The Department of Anaesthesia and Intensive Care at Rostock University Medical Center delivers about 14000 anaesthesias/year, runs a 36 bed ICU, provides emergency services in and around Rostock and is in charge of an in-hospital acute pain service. As a part of its research activities, the RoMBAT (Rostock Medical Breath gas Analysis and Technology) grou is one of the leading breath research groups worldwide. The team at Rostock University represents ample expertise in analytical and medical science and application. In addition, there is a broad experience in carrying out clinical studies and applying new techniques in breath research. Rostock University provides analytical facilities, in-vitro and animal models as well as access to a large variety of patient cohorts. RoMBAT disposes of high performance lab based equipment for trace analyses in breath analysis such as, _GC, GC-MS, GC-GC-MS, PTR-MS, PTR-TOF, HPLC, LC-MS-MS, Sensor-systems, specific VOC pre-concentration methods (NTME, SPME), standard gas generators and automated sampling systems.
