Angelo Gemignani

Angelo Gemignani (MD, PhD, MS): received his Medical Doctor degree (1990) with subsequent specialization in Psychiatry (1995) and PhD in Basic Neuroscience (1999) at Pisa University. He achieved a Master Degree in Psychology at Pavia University (2010).

 He has been visiting professor at “Laboratoire de Neurobiophysique, Unitè de Recherche en RMN Bioclinique”, Unitè INSERM 438″, Grenoble, France. (1995-1998). He has been part the tenured faculty of Medical School since 2002.

He is at present Associate Professor of Psychophysiology and vice-president of the “Corso di Laurea” in Science and Techniques of Clinical and Health Psychology and of the “Corso di Laurea” in Clinical and Health Psychology.

He is also adjunct Professor at the National Council of Research and Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna, where he leads an interdisciplinary group (Extreme Centre) investigating the psychophysiology of sleep, consciousness (including meditation) and emotional stress in normal, pathological and extreme-environment conditions. The Extreme Centre, composed by medical doctors, physicists, engineers, biologists, psychologists, is active both in basic and applied research. Angelo Gemignani has been member of several national and international projects, among which MARS 500 international project on the effects of stress on sleep of astronauts simulating the human flight to Mars.
